2024 Matric Results Release Date

The matric results of 2024 have officially been released and accessible today, 14 January 2025.

The results are accessible at schools or exam centres today according to this schedule:

  • 6:00 AM: Results will be available online on the Department of Basic Education’s website, allowing you to check your matric results online in case you’re not in the area.
  • 8:00 AM: Physical statements of results available at schools and exam centres for your certificate collection.
  • 10:00 AM: In the Western Cape, learners can collect their results from schools or exam centres from this time.

How to Access Your 2024 Matric Results

You have various options to instantly access your matric results, please see below.

1. Matric Results Online

You can quickly check your 2024 matric results online on the Department of Basic Education’s website, follow these simple steps to get your results:

  1. Visit https://www.education.gov.za/MatricResults/ExamResults.aspx
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the “SC Examination Results” section.
  3. Enter your student number and your results will be displayed on the screen.

2. School Where You’ve Taken Exams

Visit your matric school to collect a hard copy and the official matric results certificate.

Check the above times, as to when you can go to your school to get your results.

Certificates will be available across all provinces except the Western Cape at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM at WC province.

3. Newspapers Publication

The Department of Basic Education will proceed with publishing the matric results in participating newspapers.

The newspapers will publish the high-level outcome of your performance:

  • B: Bachelors Pass
  • D: Diploma
  • HC: Higher Certificate
  • NSC: NSC Pass
  • F: Fail

But for how you’ve performed per subject, you have to use the online and exam centre options.

4. Matric Results SMS

You’ll need to register with the following instructions to get your matric results by SMS:

  1. Send your exam number to 35658.
  2. You’ll receive reminders and further instructions via SMS.
    • SMSes cost R1.50 each, and free SMS bundles do not apply.

5. Matric Results USSD Code

On the release date, you’ll be able to access your matric results via the following USSD code:

  1. Dial *120*35658# on your phone.
  2. Follow the prompts to register and access your results

Once you obtain your final results, you can proceed with university late applications or registrations.
